Community Cultural Program April – December
2006
Community cultural events including Kids Dance Nights, Community Dance Nights and Film Nights. The whole community is welcome at these events which are held at the Festival Ground, Mornington Island. 2 Culture Camps are to be held at dates TBA.

YOUTH TOUR TO VICTORIA 16 March – 5 April Songman, 2 lead dancers and 11 kids touring the Great Ocean Road (27 March – 5 April) following 2 weeks performing in Melbourne at Commonwealth Games Cultural Festival events.

Burketown Carnival May TBA

Songmen, dancers and craftspeople from Mornington Island feature in this exiting 3-day festival.

Biennial Gulf Festival September

Mornington Island’s own festival with invited artists and performers from Gulf communities. 3 days of traditional song and dance – this is the real thing. Email enquiries to admin@woomerami.org

Qld Library opening November

The Queensland Library has invited Mornington Island songmen dancers and artists to perform at this landmark event.

Hip Hop November
TBA
TBA Younger dancers draw on Mornington Island’s traditional song and dance to create their own Hip Hop inspired songs and moves. Due to perform in Brisbane in November at times and locations to be announced.
